Survivor 37 Test Version Released

Author Brant    Category All, Simulator Updates     Tags

A test version has been released of the Survivor 37: David vs. Goliath simulator. It’s early in the day, and I’ll be monitoring comments here and on social media to address the bugs. There was just limited testing, so some small bugs are to be expected.

This season is based on the Survivor 33 and Survivor 34 simulators. All three of these seasons now include more display customization options based on user feedback. Depending on your preference, they can more closely resemble the original .net seasons. The Events/Status Pages, Relationship Highlights, Status Page Buttons, Reasoning and Targets, and Relationship Highlights are optional and can be turned on and off with many default options set to false.

New features also include:
– The final four format
– New tiebreaker for winners (also added to S33 and S34)

The finale’s format is assumed but can be adjusted if the actual finale differs.

The hidden advantages are the weakest part of this season and need more work. Overall, this is about 30% closer to the final state I’m aiming for the .com Survivor seasons. There may be lingering bugs from existing seasons with the voting algorithm. The plan is to address these bugs, add the final improvements, and enable “Change Settings Each Episode” before adding saving. With the year coming to an end, it’s my goal to make these updates more regularly and move on to other simulators besides Survivor 33-37 in 2019. There are known bugs, mainly with initial immunity and multiple immunity winners by gender, in the .net seasons that will be addressed as well.

Please report any issues. I’ll list the bugs fixed here. Thank you.

Bugs Fixed
– Immunity text implying a group tribal council in episode 4 removed.
– Exiled castaway joins correct tribe if there’s a quit or medevac.
– Game Changers’ automatic rocks tiebreaker added back.

Can we suggest things here, or just report bugs?

    • Brant [Admin] December 20, 2018 at 9:16 pm

You can make requests, but preferably towards Survivor seasons like this one to stay on topic.

I think targets should be a default thing on the tribe events page. I also think they should be there without a button to press

For the S34, now when there is a tie they don’t go immediately at rocks like before

Thank you for bringing this up. I was looking through the voting algorithm and set S34 to match S33 and S37, so I’ll undo that clause to restore it.

Thank you for this, it’s awesome!

No chart??? More of these simulators need to have the charts…

    • Brant [Admin] December 20, 2018 at 9:14 pm

There might be for these .com Survivor seasons. It’s a goal.

      • Dede [Guest] December 22, 2018 at 2:05 am

Good to hear! I’m just glad to see a new addition to the simulators. But the charts are a neat feature, can’t wait to see it implemented on other sims.

Is there a timeline estimate you could give on when saving will be implemented on at least the Survivor 33 & 34 seasons?

    • Brant [Admin] December 21, 2018 at 12:12 am

I don’t want to state an estimate for saving, but I see seasons 35 and 36 as realistic possibilities by the end of the month. I want to incorporate the final changes before saving is added to seasons 33-37 at the same time to make sure the structures handle everything from those seasons. Which is pretty much secret advantages/idols. Because once it’s added, those seasons are final. When I’m confident, I’ll add it.

I played with the new sim a bit, and I don’t think I saw the vote steal that Nick used in episode 9 at any point in the game. Overall great job and thanks for all your hard work!

    Hi Brant!
Could you please consider lessening the effects of immunity wins on the jury vote at the end of the new seasons? Currently if someone wins 3 challenges then the majority of the jury almost always votes for them to win based off that fact alone, which isn’t really reflective of how Survivor is actually played. I made a discussion post on the reddit further explaining this here:

Thanks for all your hard work!

In season 37 at merge i had a bug when all the votes did not count because of idols, in the revote there was votes against them again and one of them got evicted

  • Various [Guest] December 22, 2018 at 6:31 am

Wow! Fast turn around thank you so much!!!!

  • Mantas [Guest] December 22, 2018 at 5:04 pm

when do you think you will complete the total drama simulators ?

  • Eddie [Guest] December 22, 2018 at 5:07 pm

Idols are played too loosely in the new simulators. 9/10 on .org they end up being ineffective and 8/9 out of the 10 times they’re ineffective, they negate 0 votes. It’s made the idol almost useless all the time and is so unrealistic. .net handled idols way better. I don’t know if they algorithm is different. It’s just something I noticed.

    • coolKat [Guest] December 22, 2018 at 5:45 pm

LoL every simulator I do now and days at Leasts 60% of the idols are effective

  • Mike [Guest] December 23, 2018 at 12:38 am

Hey! I love the simulators I’m so glad this website is here. Is there anyway we can get an option to turn off Med-Evacs, quits, etc in the Survivor simulator? Thanks!

  • Gabe [Guest] December 23, 2018 at 2:27 am

I’m not liking how when idols are played and it cancels ALL the votes, the revote is completely random

  • Ramona Flowers [Guest] January 1, 2019 at 11:50 pm

Have an issue at the final 5 where the two people playing idols were not immune in the revote.

    Chris (idol)
    Cheyne (immunity)
    Shelley (idol)

Vote is 4 Shelley (cancelled out), 1 Chris (cancelled out)

Revote should be Ashley vs Wanda but it goes back to Shelley/Chris and obviously Shelley is out 4-1 again.
