Survivor Game Changers Simulator Demo

Author Brant    Category All, Updates     Tags

The Survivor: Game Changers template has been released in Demo Form.

Please note: After many great responses to the Survivor Survey, an updated system is being prepared that should both improve the logic of the new features in Survivor 33 and 34 and allow for better backward compatibility for users who prefer the old simulation style. Some of the menu options will resemble those in the Big Brother: Over the Top simulator and will also allow users to change alliances and relationships each episode. Certain display features, like seeing past tribes on every episode page, will also return.

Thanks to @brandon for testing this season and preventing an extremely buggy demo release. Please report any bugs you see or features missing in either the comments or contact forms. Bugs will be fixed as soon as possible, and an update will come in a few days. Thank you!

New For S34:
– Joint tribal council (needs better target pages)
– New tiebreaker procedure for normal tribal councils

Season Specifics Remaining:
– Better incorporation of Legacy Advantage, Extra Vote, and Vote Steal
– More accurate rules regarding idol hiding
– More detailed information on the tribe expansion and splits
– Better logic to prevent split votes from leading to frequent rock tiebreakers
– New tiebreaker procedure for final tribal councils

S33 & S34 Bug Fixed:
– Players immune by idols can no longer be voted out on the revote

S34 Bugs Fixed
– None yet

Noticed a bug. When it goes to rocks, someone in the tie gets rocked out. Other than that, I noticed no other bugs. Great Simulator =]

    • Dylan [Guest] May 26, 2017 at 6:01 pm

I also noticed participants in a rock draw who should be immune (since those who received votes get votes become immune). Example:

For this season with the new rock rule, are those in the tie immune from rocks? I thought they could still draw them but wasn’t positive.

      • Dylan [Guest] May 26, 2017 at 6:04 pm

It was to my understanding that the rock rules remain intact from previous seasons, the only difference being that there is no re-vote!

Brants, i need to be vocal about it cause i’m a true fan since the begginings.. this new Template that you guys are trying to put up is not horrible… it is hell! Nothing can be saved.
Didn’t wanted to be rude, cause i know the efforts you put in these.. but man..

Just did a season with MvsG and 6 people went home because of rocks.. delusional.

      Thanks for the feedback!

The rocks are happening because alliances are splitting their votes. There needs to be updated logic for this season to prevent this, knowing that they will go directly to ties. It’s in progress.

in the first episode was a tie between caleb and malcolm and they go to rocks and malcolm get evicted by the purple rock, and he was in the tie

Thanks. I misinterpreted the rules for this season to think that the ‘tied players being immune from rocks’ no longer applied. It appears that it still does. I fixed it now.

There is a small bug in episode 6, the immunity challenge wins nuku but the current tribe does not appear, appears the nuku tribe of the last stage (3 tribes) . Also when there is a tie for votes, there is no second vote, it goes directly to the purple rock (SORRY FOR THE ENGLISH)

The tiebreaker was simplified this season, meaning if the vote is tied at the first vote, and there’s no consensus who to eliminate, it’ll go to rocks.

Will there be a voting chart provided eventually for this season and for all Big Brother/Survivor seasons?

  • Alex [Guest] May 26, 2017 at 7:02 pm

I really like the old format better, the one used for seasons 1 to 32

According to the survey taken by 1201 users, about 36% percent prefer the old system. To compensate these users, menus will be added (similar to Big Brother: Over the Top) to make the appearance of the .com Survivor seasons more closely resemble the old seasons. The old seasons will then be upgraded to this system.

This has been planned and is in progress, and it’s intended to provide satisfaction to those in favor and against the new system.

Even the BBOTT semi-old format is a turn-off for me…might not use the simulators any more if you’re gonna do that. If you’re gonna change it, I wish we could choose from 100% old way or 100% new way. I don’t like new and semi-old…I want old…like completely so rip my account here cause I refuse to use the disgusting new format…

One thing that was highlighted by the change in the tie rules this season that’s never really been implemented in the simulators to my knowledge is the fact that they only go to rocks if they can’t decide unanimously to vote off one of the players in the tie. I understand skipping that aspect in the logic to just go straight to rocks for simplicity, but is there any way to provide logic for that situation and give players the ability to maybe decide unanimously, and then go to rocks if they cant? Even just a static line saying that they have the ability and couldn’t decide unanimously just so that it’s not forgotten even if the outcome is always the same.

    • Profile photo of Brant
Brant [Admin] May 26, 2017 at 7:28 pm

I like that too. On the S33 and S34 seasons, it’s possible to still make major adjustments before it gets locked (when saving is added – although I’m trying to make it as flexible as possible to handle new twists) to actually incorporate the process of coming to unanimous decisions, and in general, it would also be possible to add a line of text to all the seasons.

I think there are few more situations where statements or explanations could benefit tribal council as well.

      • Profile photo of Iawy
Iawy [Member] May 27, 2017 at 11:04 am

Yeah! However you want to do it. It’s just there are cases where the group did actually come to a unanimous decision (Cambodia F6 where they unanimously decided on Kimmi), so it’s not like it’s something that hasn’t happened yet in the history of the show. But then you also have the contrast with MvGX F10 where they couldn’t unanimously come to the decision and went to rocks. So in recent seasons we’ve seen both sides happen, but the sim only allows for the latter without any explanation as to why they came to that decision (even if it’s just static text and the decision always ends up being the latter.)

I think that would be a nice addition to Survivor 33 and Survivor 34.

Does anyone have a sample voting chart that they like to base it on?

      • Profile photo of Rebby
Rebby [Member] May 26, 2017 at 7:45 pm

I think both the main Wikipedia and the Survivor-wikia have good voting charts that basically has all the same information.

        • Profile photo of Brant
Brant [Admin] May 26, 2017 at 7:53 pm

Both look possible to replicate – it’s just the question of whether to put jury votes in the original table or in a second one. I kind of like the Survivor Wiki one personally.

The special scenarios and events that will make them a little tricky, but it should be possible to make clauses to handle them.

          • Profile photo of Rebby
Rebby [Member] May 26, 2017 at 7:55 pm

Yea, it’ll be tough, especially when it comes to individual season twists. I don’t have a preference when it comes to the jury votes. You had the jury votes separate in the total drama chart, and it looks fine.

Brant [Admin] May 26, 2017 at 8:30 pm

Whichever format is selected, I’d like to attempt to replicate across all the seasons (when they have the capability of handling voting charts) just for consistency.

Also, idk if this was mentioned but it’s a funny bug. During the 2 tribe twist and the exile, Hali got exiled but at that Tribal, Zeke had quit the game. But then what happened was that Hali never came back from Exile Island and luckily skipped the next Tribal… and came back at the merge 😛

I don’t know if its a bug or something and it probably doesn’t affect anything anyway but one time during the 3 tribe phase of s35, on the reward challenge, it shows the winners and its the same tribe.

I just dosnt get why 2 times on my season someone played the idol on another person randomly and that person didnt even receive one vote. Things like that may happens but its very unlikely to happen 2 times specially when the one who played it was in almost all aliances and wasnt even allied to the one he played it

And so confused (this isn’t bug just my thoughts) at F3 it was Aubry,JT,and Ozzy

Ozzy had 7 immunity wins and 3 rewards with 3 votes and 1 idol found

JT had 1 immunity and 3 rewards with 7 votes against him

Aubry had 2 immunities and 2 rewards with 20 votes against her and 1 idol

Yet in the finale the vote

    6 votes JT
    3 votes Ozzy
    1 vote Aubry

I am so confused how Ozzy didn’t win

Maybe JT was more strategic idk

(Also can you incorporate who was most strategic please

In the first season, Kelly Wiglesworth had 4 immunity wins (in a row) while Rich only had one but she still lost to him. In AO, Colby had 5 immunity wins (also in a row) and Tina had NONE, but she still beat him. I’m glad that the winner is determined by more than just challenge wins.

      • Profile photo of Natalie
Natalie [Member] May 27, 2017 at 9:56 pm

I wasn’t saying based on just challenges

        JT found no idols

        Ozzy found 1

JT had 7 votes against him

        While Ozzy had 2

Ozzy had better stats than JT overall yet JT still won

        • Profile photo of Chill Out
Chill Out [Member] May 28, 2017 at 2:01 pm

It was probably strategy or maybe based on relationships. After all, that’s how JT won in real life haha

Can we have a preset logo for MvGx and Game Changers? 1-32 had a preset logo, and without 1 for 33-34, we can’t reset the simulator, making it harder to choose a cast…

  • Profile photo of Drake
Drake [Member] May 27, 2017 at 1:52 pm

So I think you should implement something when it comes to a tie at the final vote (the jury vote)

At the finale Jeff announced after it revealed that Brad would bring Tai over Sierra that the votes would tie 5-5

Jeff announced that Troyzan would be the tie breaker

With that being said I just did a simulator and the votes ties between Andrea and Varner so I think Sierra (the 3rd place) would have the sole vote to win rather than having the jury revote

  • Dylan [Guest] May 27, 2017 at 5:50 pm

One suggestion I have to make the simulator better would be to give more weight to strategic/social ability. I set players like Cirie and Sandra to “Mastermind” strategic status and high social ability and they are still voted out first from their tribes every time without fail what seems to be due just purely because their challenge stats are set to low, while players with strategic and social abilities set to “Terrible” last until the merge unscathed just because they have high challenge stats (at least that’s what it seems).

  • Profile photo of Blake
Blake [Member] May 27, 2017 at 7:00 pm

I think that Jeff said if the votes tie at Final Tribal Council, the third place person would cast their vote for who to win.

  • Profile photo of W Jeremy
    W Jeremy [Member] May 31, 2017 at 2:19 am

Also, in one of the simulator, Aubry, Andrea & Zeke make in to the Final and the vote comes down to 4-4-2 with Aubry taking 3rd place. But when in a revote, it turns out to be 5-5 and the winner is decided by a tie-breaking challenge???

  • Jan [Guest] June 1, 2017 at 12:37 am

I just noticed that in the targets page for individual, they target the threats in prejury? I’m pretty sure they don’t want to get rid of the threats perjury. XD

  • My boy [Guest] June 3, 2017 at 12:23 am

I know this bug is kind of minor, but I don’t really know about you guys, but I found this bug in episode 5 where one tribe wins both rewards. There were supposed to be two tribes, but apparently only one did. I didn’t watch the show, but according to the description: Two castaways per tribe, which is two pairs. And the first two pairs would win. However, I only see one tribe.

Is this supposed to be there on purpose???

    Here da image:

I really don’t want to complain, because the demo for Game Changers is excellent, but I want to know when will the Extra Vote and the Vote Stealer come into play because those were two twists that were integral to the season. Anyways, the work is much appreciated!

  • Evan [Guest] June 3, 2017 at 2:11 am

There was a bug where someone (Tony) had an idol played on him and he still drew rocks and was eliminated. F6 is Aubry, Brad, Michaela, Sandra, Tai, & Tony. Aubry won immunity, Tai had the legacy advantage played on him by Aubry, Tony had an idol played on him by Sandra. Yet 5 people drew rocks? it should only be Brad, Sandra, and Michaela drawing rocks right?

  • Ben [Guest] June 4, 2017 at 2:29 pm

This is really minor, but in the targets page, they target threats in prejury, and thats why the people set to mastermind get out early because they target the social and physical threats in the beginning.

  • Noah [Guest] June 7, 2017 at 7:12 pm

I’ve noticed a lot of issues regarding failed idol plays. In one game, I noticed five different failed idol plays, all of them being played on someone who received no votes. I could understand this happening in split situations like 4-2-1, but when it’s a vote with Cirie 8 – Andrea 1, and someone like Sandra playing an idol on Zeke, it doesn’t make sense. Just a little logical thing.

    • Profile photo of Izumi
Izumi [Member] June 8, 2017 at 7:26 am

I’ve noticed that as well, but I’ve had 3 main experiences of that (which I remember), and two of the times, it was a near-unanimous vote between, however an idol was played on a 3rd target. (Not sure who the targets were but for the sake of the argument, Cirie has an idol, Sandra + Tai were the two targets that got votes, Sandra, Tai and Michaela were targets, Cirie uses idol on Michaela.
